Case study · independent coffee shop

How Matté Coffee + Chill found the leak in its deliveries.

An independent coffee shop knew the odd delivery went wrong. Checking every one showed how often, and how much it was costing.

Deliveries with a problem

11.5%

of the deliveries Matté Coffee + Chill checked had something missing, damaged or short.

Before: a leak nobody could see

Matté Coffee + Chill knew that some deliveries went wrong. Every missing or damaged item was stock the shop had paid for and never got, so wrong deliveries were costing money.

Chasing suppliers was done by hand, and it was slow work that took time away from running the shop.

After: every delivery checked, line by line

Since the shop joined Unpickle in October 2025, whoever is on shift checks each delivery in Unpickle. Every line gets one tap, OK, Damaged or Missing, with the quantity that actually came and a photo of any damage. A problem is recorded against the delivery straight away, so following it up with the supplier starts from the facts rather than from memory.

The result: 11.5% of checked deliveries had something wrong. The owners hadn’t known the revenue leak was this big until Unpickle showed it to them.

About this figure

Counted on 16 October 2026 from Matté Coffee + Chill’s own Unpickle account and published with the owner’s permission. A delivery counts once if at least one item was marked missing or damaged, or arrived short of the expected quantity. It describes one shop, not an industry average. The full method is in our delivery benchmark, an earlier reading of the same account.
