Terms of service

Last updated: 16 October 2026

1. Who these terms are with

Unpickle is an operations app for cafés, restaurants and bars: deliveries, daily jobs, stock and house knowledge. It is run by Matte Group Ltd (“we”, “us”).

Registered in England and Wales, company number 14554960. Registered office: 22a Beaufort Road, London, KT1 2TQ, United Kingdom. Registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, number ZB916998.

You can reach us at hello@unpickleapp.com. A person answers.

For existing customers, contractual changes take effect after the notice period in section 17. Until that period ends, the previously applicable terms continue to govern your subscription.

These terms are between us and the legal business operating the shop (“you”), whether that is a company, partnership or sole trader. The manager creating the account confirms they have authority to agree on that business’s behalf. Invited staff use the service for that business; they do not become the subscription customer just by using their staff account. Unpickle is supplied for business use.

Our data processing agreement forms part of these terms and takes priority if there is a conflict about data protection. Our privacy policy explains how personal data is used; it is a transparency notice, not part of this contract or a request for consent.

2. What Unpickle is

An operations app for cafés, restaurants and bars: deliveries, daily jobs, stock and house knowledge. Managers set up a shop and invite their team; staff check deliveries and complete tasks. Each shop is a separate subscription.

3. Accounts and your team

Keep login details safe and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used them. Your business is responsible for authorising its managers, the people they invite and their use of the shop’s account. Managers must remove access when someone leaves and keep the shop’s contact and billing details accurate.

4. Free trial

New shops get a 30-day free trial, with no card needed to start. To carry on after the trial, add a payment method on the Billing page in settings. Adding a card does not shorten the trial. Checkout shows the first payment date, including any extension to the trial. Unless you cancel before that date, your paid subscription starts then. Without a payment method, the trial does not automatically become a paid subscription.

5. Price, VAT and payment

  • Unpickle costs £29 a month per shop plus VAT, with unlimited staff.
  • The price excludes VAT. VAT is added where applicable at the rate shown before payment and on your invoice. Our VAT number is GB455149875.
  • Your subscription renews automatically for successive monthly billing periods until you cancel renewal. Stripe takes payment monthly in advance; your payment dates, receipts and invoices are available through the Billing page.
  • If a payment fails we’ll let you know. If it’s still unpaid 7 days after it was due we may pause the shop’s access until it’s settled. Pausing doesn’t delete anything.

6. Money-back guarantee

If Unpickle isn’t right for you, email hello@unpickleapp.com within 30 days of your first payment for the shop and we’ll refund that payment in full, including any VAT paid, no questions asked. To stop future renewals, also cancel through Billing as described in section 8. Cancelling alone does not request the refund.

This guarantee is in addition to refunds or remedies required by law, these terms or the data processing agreement. Otherwise, payments already made are not refunded, including for unused parts of a billing period.

7. Price changes

We may change the price. We’ll email managers at least 30 days before a new price applies, and it starts from your first billing date after that notice. If you don’t want to pay the new price, cancel before it starts.

8. Cancelling

You can cancel automatic renewal at any time from Settings → Billing (/dashboard/settings/billing), which opens Stripe’s secure billing page. Complete the cancellation there before your next payment date to stop the next renewal. You keep access until the end of your current paid billing period, or the trial if you cancel during it. A billing period runs between your subscription payment dates, not by calendar month. Contact us if you cannot access the cancellation page. Cancellation does not itself request a refund or delete your data.

9. Your data after you cancel

  • Cancelling doesn’t delete anything straight away. Until the paid billing period ends you can still sign in and download your records from Settings → Your data.
  • After the last paid billing period ends, we keep the shop’s data for 90 days in case you come back, then delete it. If a trial ends without a subscription, the 90 days run from the trial end. You can request an export or earlier deletion by email during that period, even if you cannot access the app.
  • Want it gone sooner? Use Close my shop on the same page. We delete the shop’s operational data, files and logins within 30 days of that request. This is a separate deletion request: it does not cancel your Stripe subscription. If you pay for Unpickle, also cancel renewal through Billing to stop future charges.
  • Billing and tax records are normally retained for six years from the end of the relevant financial year, or longer where the law requires. Encrypted backup copies are kept beyond ordinary use and expire within 30 days after active-data deletion, as described in the data processing agreement.

10. Acceptable use

Use Unpickle to run your venue. Don’t use it to break the law, to infringe anyone’s rights, to send spam, to upload malware, to probe or overload the service, or to get at other shops’ data. Don’t resell access or bypass access controls. Do not put payment card details in notes, photos or uploads. The service is not designed for special category personal data or criminal offence data; you must not enter it unless we first agree in writing on the processing and safeguards, as described in the data processing agreement.

11. Your content

You own what you put into Unpickle: deliveries, invoices, tasks, photos, articles and the rest. You give us permission to store and process it only to provide the service to you, as described in the data processing agreement. You’re responsible for having the right to upload it, including telling your staff that you use Unpickle.

12. AI features and your own checks

Some features use AI to read invoices, answer questions about your records, spot duplicate products and draft supplier messages. AI can get things wrong, so check the result before you rely on it or send it. Unpickle helps you record and organise your work. It doesn’t replace your own food safety, allergen, health and safety or employment duties, and the articles you write in it are yours to keep accurate.

13. Our intellectual property

The app, its design and its software belong to us. These terms give you the right to use the service while your trial or subscription is active, for your business’s own operations. They do not transfer ownership of our software or affect your ownership of your content.

14. Keeping the service running

We will provide Unpickle with reasonable skill and care. We work to keep it available and reliable, but cannot promise uninterrupted or fault-free service. We may pause it for maintenance and improve or change features over time. If we remove or materially reduce an important feature you pay for, we will give you advance notice. If you do not accept that change, you may end the affected subscription before it takes effect by emailing us, and we will refund fees paid for the unused period after it ends.

15. Liability

  • Nothing in these terms limits either party’s liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or anything else the law does not allow to be limited.
  • Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or anticipated savings to the extent that it is indirect or consequential.
  • If our breach causes data loss, we will take reasonable steps to restore the data from available backups. Our liability can include reasonable direct costs of restoring or reconstructing affected data, subject to the cap below; restoration from a backup is not your only remedy.
  • Except for liability that cannot be limited under this section, our total liability arising from events in any contract year is limited to the greater of £100 and the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the first event giving rise to a claim in that year. A contract year is each 12-month period starting on the date your business first accepted these terms or its anniversary. Related events are treated as occurring when the first of them occurred.

These limits cover claims under these terms and the data processing agreement, whether in contract, negligence or otherwise. They do not restrict data subjects’ statutory rights or a regulator’s powers. Refunds expressly due under these terms or the data processing agreement are not reduced by the liability cap.

16. Suspension and ending these terms

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or that puts the service or other shops at risk, with notice where we reasonably can. Where a breach can reasonably be put right, we will give you an opportunity to do so unless urgent suspension is needed to protect the service or data. You can end your subscription by cancelling renewal (section 8), and separately request deletion by closing your shop (section 9). If we close your account, we will stop future renewals and tell you how to obtain your records where lawful and reasonably possible. Obligations that need to continue, including payment of sums already due, confidentiality, data protection and liability, survive termination.

17. Changes to these terms

If we make a material change we’ll tell managers by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. The notice will explain the change and its effective date. If you do not agree, you may end your subscription before that date by emailing us, and we will refund fees paid for the unused period after it ends. Continuing to use the service after the effective date means you accept the new terms. Price changes follow section 7, and changes to sub-processors follow the data processing agreement.

18. General

These terms and the data processing agreement are the whole agreement between us about Unpickle. If part cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. A person who is not a party has no right to enforce this contract under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999; this does not affect their statutory rights. We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, provided we take reasonable steps to reduce their effect and resume the service.

19. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute.
